Mary Anne Walters
ZANESVILLE: Mary Anne Walters, 72, of Zanesville, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Born March 25, 1940, in Florence, N.Y., she lived in northern New York until 1972, when she came to Zanesville. She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Watertown, N.Y. Mary Ann retired in 2000 from the Muskingum County Home, where she held such positions as director of nursing. Her compassionate attitude and warm heart made her a wonderful nurse and good friend. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, and was a former volunteer for Good Samaritan Hospital.
Surviving are her daughter, Beth (Howard "Duff") Walters Bailey, of Zanesville; a son, Mark Walters; two stepchildren, Jack M. Walters Jr. of Gillette, Wyo., and Vicki Lynn Lehigh of Dover; a sister, Agnes R. McAuley of Cupertino, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James B. and Ethel B. Dolan Spellicy; her husband, Jack M. Walters Sr., who died in 1984; and an aunt who raised her, Anne Dolan.
It was Mary Anne's wish to be cremated. A private burial will follow.
An open memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012, at the Zanesville Civic League Community Center, 928 Jackson St., Zanesville.
