ZANESVILLE: Roger S. Luman Sr., 93, of Zanesville died at 1:05pm Thursday, December 05, 2013 at the Emeritus at North Hills.

He was born on May 6, 1920 in Zanesville. Roger worked at AEP for 38 years, first at Philo Plant as a Unit Supervisor and when the Philo Plant closed, he was transferred to Cardinal Plant in Brilliant, OH until his retirement in 1980. After marrying Jean Conkle, he changed faith from Catholic to Lutheran and attended St. Luke's Lutheran Church with his family. He was a lifelong member of the Eagles Auxiliary Club in Zanesville and was a volunteer fireman for the village of Philo where he lived before moving to Zanesville. Roger also sold real estate part-time, was on a bowling league at AEP, enjoyed fishing and going to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Surviving are his wife of the home, Jean E. (Conkle) Luman, whom he married February 8, 1941; two daughters, Rita (Stephen Gary) Rucker of Apple Valley and Kathy Luman of Zanesville; a son, Patrick Luman of Zanesville; grandsons, Roger S. (Kathy) Luman III, Scott Luman, Steven Gary (Carol) Rucker, Jr. and Michael Wilson; granddaughters, Vicki Rucker, Brenda Rucker and Stephanie (Mike) Winters; great grandaughters, Lindsay Rucker, Cheyanna Rucker, Trisha Luman, Brooke Luman and Sammy Luman; great grandsons Christopher and Aaron Lombardo and Zachary Captain Rucker; and several great great grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Harry Luman; mother and step father, Stella and Robert Shaw; a son, Roger S. Luman, Jr.; and a brother, Richard Luman.

Friends may from 10am to 11am Monday December 9th with funeral services to follow at 11am with Pastor Mark Matzke officiating on at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
