Susan L. (Howe) Whitehead

ZANESVILLE: Susan L. (Howe) Whitehead, 53 of Zanesville, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at her residence following a sudden illness. Susan was born Sunday, July 19, 1959 in Zanesville, the daughter of John J. Howe and Lillian L. (Holbert) Howe. She married John A. Whitehead on Saturday, September 14, 2002 was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Susan was a loving and caring wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Being a grandmother was one of the most important things to her. She was a very caring person who always worried about others before herself.

Susan is survived by her husband: John Whitehead of the home; two children: Chereka & Walter Coffee of Zanesville and Michael Howe & Iyan Hill of Cincinnati; four step children: John A. Whitehead, Jr. of The Plains, Necie, Buddy and Bradford all of Zanesville; nine grandchildren: Azari, Ameir, Mike, Destiny, Mikail, Mikayla, Micha, Michaela and Michael, Jr. "Bam Bam"; eight step-grandchildren; seven sisters: Carolyn W. Mann of Dayton, Rebecca E. & Virgil Johnson of Zanesville, Vanessa A. & Gary Harrison of Columbus, Rayshelle & Frank Wiseman of Fultonham, Rita Howe of Zanesville; two brothers: Ronnie "Bear" Simmons and Victor L. & Cheryl Howe both of Zanesville; six sisters-in-law: Loretha & Rickie Griffin of Hampton VA., Louise & Charles Edward of Hampton, VA, Frances & Tony King of Birmingham, AL, Karrie Whitehead and Patty Mae Hill both of Rocky Mountain, NC; Debbie Barnes of Richmond, VA and Barbara Howe of Zanesville; one brother-in-law: Joseph & Maxine Whitehead of Hampton, VA; one special friend and sister: Sharon Lamb of Cincinnati; a special family friend: Chicken Little Howard of Zanesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by one sister: Edith Howe; two brothers: John Howe and William Curtis and two brother-in-laws.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 21, 2013 at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue and one hour prior to funeral services from 11:00 AM till 12 Noon at Calvary Mission Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon, Monday at Calvary Mission Baptist Church, 536 Moxahala Avenue, with Pastor Keith Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
