HEATH: The family of Yvonne Lorenz, 88, of Heath, Ohio invite you to a "Celebration of her Life" at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark, Ohio on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 21st from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. with the Heath Lion's conducting a service at 4:30 p.m.
Yvonne passed away on December 18, 2013 at the Arlington Care Center.
Yvonne was born November 2, 1925 in Perry County to the late Alva and Clara "Blanche" (Kokensparger) Howerth.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Charles William Burgess; 2nd husband, Russell Etzwiler; 3rd husband, John Lorenz; sister, Juanita Monty (Armand), brother, Don Howarth (Martha), and sister, Monna Scrafford (John).
She graduated from New Lexington High School in 1943, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Yvonne retired from Newark Air Force Base in Heath in January 1986 with 25 years of service, in Civil Engineering Division. She was a member of the Heath Lioness Club and most recently the Heath Lions Club, upholding the motto "WE SERVE", by hiolding several positions in both clubs. She also belonged to the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), where she was the "Crazy Hat Lady," collecting donations for the
. She was also a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles, and the Newark VFW
. Another group she enjoyed participating with the "Red Hat Mamas." Yvonne was also instrumental in the formation of an entertainment group, "Young At Heart" which she performed for several years entertaining residents of several local nursing homes/establishments.
She is survived by her three children by her first marriage, C.W. "Billy" Burgess (Ulla) of Reno, NV; Sandy Renner (Bob) of Yorktown, VA; Kim Goll (Geoff) of Salem OH; half-sister, Alpha Black (Ronnie) of Thornville; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of dear and devoted friends.
