BLUE ROCK: Charles "Charlie" H. McLaughlin, 81, of Blue Rock, passed away at 11:20 PM Sunday May 27, 2012 at his residence following a short illness.
Charlie was born April 8, 1931 in Blue Rock the son of the late Gilbert W. and Francis C. Weaver Mc Laughlin. He served his country as an Army Sergeant during the Korean War. He was a Graduate of Roseville High School and retired employee after 43 years with Cooper Industries. He was a 52 year active member of First Christian Church, active participant of the property committee of First Christian Church, Farm Bureau and Brush Creek Historical Society. Charlie and his wife, Ruthie, were avid supporters and volunteers with the Zaney Follies for many years. He was a handyman and jack of all trades who enjoyed working on his farm. Charlie was a dedicated and loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving Charlie are his sons, Andy (Lorraine) McLaughlin of Meridian, Mississippi and Bill (Kim) Mc Laughlin of Blue Rock; daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Baker of Zanesville and Deanna Mc Laughlin of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Carl (Linda) Mc Laughlin of White Cottage; sisters, Louise Edwards of Blue Rock and Dorothy (Lawrence) Dickson of Columbus; grandchildren, Ian Mc Laughlin, Andrea Mc Laughlin, Levi Baker, Lauren Baker, Amanda Mc Laughlin, Amber Mc Laughlin, Chris (Angie) Jones; great grandchildren, Trent, Nathan, Garrett and Brooklyn Jones; and nine nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife of 52 years Ruth "Ruthie" Joan Canter Mc Laughlin who died 1/30/2011; and brother, John Mc Laughlin of Amesville.
Visitation for Charlie will be 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave Zanesville. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday May 31, 2012 at First Christian Church 3000 Dresden Road Zanesville with Pastor Dawn Remster officiating. Committal service will follow at Stovertown Lutheran Church Cemetery with military services conducted by VFW Post 1058 and the US Army.
