Charles W. Garrett

MALTA: Charles W. Garrett, 80, of Malta, paased away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 13,2014 at his home. He was born October 4,1933 in the home a son of the late Sidney and Emma Garrett.

Charles was a 1952 graduate of York High School. He was a machinist working at what is currently Miba Bearings. He was an Army veteran serving from 1953-1955. He was also a member of Solomoms Lutheran Church. Charlie enjoyed being outdoors coon hunting, ginseng hunting and working in his garden. He also enjoyed meeting his buddies at McDonalds for daily coffee and conversation.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Shelba J. Garrett of the home; two sons, Steven W. Garrett of Malta and Vaughn K. (Kim) Garrett of McConnelsville; two daughters, Tina L. (Tony) Bateson of Hackney and Tarua (Steve) McCoy of McConnelsville; seven grandchildren, William J. Hann and Rebecca, Andrea Spears and Broc, Clayton McCoy, Cassie Bateson, Caitlin McCoy, Baylee and Ty Garrett; five great grandchildren, Flint Spears, Mia Serocko, Charlotte and Sophia Hann, and Brantley Cunningham; one brother, Jim Garrett of McConnelsville; two sisters, Ruby Shook of Philo and Carma Kalb of McConnelsville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Vivian Richardson.

Family and friends may call Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A funeral services will be held Monday, March 17,2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Solomons Lutheran Church with Pastor Alex Brown officiating. Charles will be laid to rest in Dutch Hill Cemetery.
