ZANESVILLE: Dannie Boyd Collopy, 66, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Central Ohio Hospice in Newark following a long battle with cancer. He was born March 4, 1946 in Zanesville to Bernard and Lillian Collopy.
Dannie served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and served with the Army National Guard for three years. He was a crane operator for many years and worked in the heating and air conditioning industry. He retired as owner and operator of Sparkle Wash. He had a great knack for mechanical items and enjoyed fixing them.
In addition to his parents, Dannie is survived by two sons, Dannie Boyd and Stephanie Collopy and Troy and Jeanie Collopy both of Dresden; special friend, Janet Dillon of Zanesville; three brothers, Mike Collopy of Lima, Gary Collopy of Zanesville and Steve and Gloria Collopy of Amanda; six grandchildren, Tyler, MacKenzie, Caleb, Austin, Sayge and Cameron.
Dannie was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard 'Leo' Collopy, Jr. and Ronald Collopy and one sister, Linda Jones.
Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle Street. Funeral service will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Martin J. Ralko officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery Veterans Gardens with Full Military Honors conducted by VFW Post 1058.
