Everett "Glenn" Blackford

ZANESVILLE: Everett "Glenn" Blackford, 75, of Zanesville passed away at 12:45 pm Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Genesis Hospice, Morrison House.

Glenn was born November 8, 1936 in Zanesville, the son of the late Odos and Sylvia (Linn) Blackford. He started his working career at Armco Steel then he advanced to Union 76 in Newark where he got his steam engineers license, he then learned the masonry trade and worked in construction for the Longaberger Company where he retired in 2004. He was a lifetime area farmer and he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. One of his biggest joys was building the Bethlehem Walk in Chandlersville.

Glenn is a member of the Chandlersville United Methodist Church and he was the last serving Master of the Carlwick Grange, he was a 1955 graduate of Philo High School and enjoyed going to the Ag breakfast every month as well as being an avid bowler and Nascar fan. He enjoyed going to Pigeon Forge, Tenn, every year with his friends.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Laura Mae (Jones) Blackford whom he married December 12, 1959; his sons, Gregory L. Blackford of Zanesville, Harold E. (Christine) Blackford of Chandlersville and Steven P. Blackford (Laramie) of Zanesville; his grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Brandy Turner, Alisha Blackford, Tabitha Britenberg, Sarah and Cameron Blackford; his great grandchildren, Casey, Skylar, Kylie, Logan, James, Harrison, Kaylee, Alivia and Connor; his brothers, Eugene (Julia) Blackford of Pickerington and Bernard (Marlene) Blackford of Zanesville.

In addition to his parents, Glenn is preceded in death by his son, Frank B. Blackford; and his sister, Lilly Blackford; and his in-laws, Harold K. and Isabelle Jones.

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 11am with Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating. He will be laid to rest in St. Paul Cemetery.
