NEW LEXINGTON: Franklin "Frank" Carrigan, 80, of Parkersburg, W.Va., formerly of Mt. Perry, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014.
Born March 29, 1933 in Glouster, Ohio to the late Fred and Lillian White Carrigan.
A United States Navy Veteran; Frank served in law enforcement for 27 years, during which time he served as Deputy Marshall of Corning, OH., a Deputy for Perry County; Prison Guard at the Ohio State Penitentiary; Juvenile Probation Officer; Mayor of Corning, OH.; organizer of the Perry County Sheriff's Auxiliary; the first Village Administrator of New Lexington, OH and Chief Deputy for Hocking County.
After leaving law enforcement, Frank became a truck driver until he retired. He enjoyed playing his guitar, writing music, drawing and spending time with his granddaughter Janetta.
A 50 year member of New Lexington Lodge #250 F & AM, Frank rose to 32nd degree Mason, Valley of Cambridge.
Survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice Barnes Carrigan; daughter, Cathy (George) Gunter; son, Robert (Angie) Carrigan; step son, Mark Bess (Ron Henry); special granddaughter, Janetta Gunter; three other grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Brown; sisters, Joann Stalter and Thelma Tennison and brother, Roy Carrigan.
Private services will be held and burial will be in Dew Cemetery, Corning, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
