ZANESVILLE: Gertrude "Elaine" Dittoe, 91 of Zanesville died 11:10 AM Monday, December 3, 2012 at Cedar Hill Care Center. She was born Thursday, October 6, 1921 in Zanesville, the daughter of William Kelly and Gertrude (Burgoon) Kelly. She married Edward E. "Gene" Dittoe on Friday, June 29, 1945. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she served on many committees and enjoyed her volunteer work for the church. She was a great woman of faith who lived her faith daily. Elaine was Co-Owner along with her late husband of Wilson & Hamilton Moving & Storage. She was a member of Good Samaritan Charity Circle and Rosary Alter Society. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid bridge player.
Elaine is survived by one son: Gary Eugene (Jane) Dittoe of Edgewood KY; three daughters: Jan (Dick) Bowers of Zanesville; Amy (Kevin) Konopasek of San Diego, CA and Joni (Dave) Hill of Zanesville; grandchildren: Jeff (Angela) Dittoe of Lake Side Park, KY, Jessica (Fred) Schumacher of Fort Wright, KY, Lisa (Mark) Schmitt of Gahanna, Jenny (Ben) Thompson of Upper Arlington, Carey (Chris) Conger of Phoenix, AZ, Brandon (Christy) McMack of Sacramento, CA, Jason McMack of San Diego, CA , Matt (Carrie) Hill, Abby (Ryan) Garber and Mike Hill all of Zanesville; fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband: Gene Dittoe who died August 25, 1988; two brothers: William Kelly and Joseph Kelly and one sister: Lucille Dinan.
Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 6, 2012 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue with the Rosary being recited at 7:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Jordon Turano, OP as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
