COSHOCTON: Helen Louise Young, 89, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at Coshocton Health and Rehabilitation on Thursday, September 5, 2013. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 30, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Russell and Mary (Maris) Hull.
Helen graduated from Crooksville High School in 1942. On May 5, 1946 she married George Young who preceded her in death on October 9, 1996.
Helen was a waitress and cashier at the former Spitler's Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed golf, playing in the ladies leagues at the Hilltop,and was an avid bowler. A music lover, Helen's tastes spanned a broad musical spectrum from Beethoven and Debussey to Harry James and Duke Ellington. She was also a regular in several activities with her friends at Seton.
Helen is survived by her four children, James (Deborah) Young of Whittier, California, Thomas (Cynthia) Young of Dublin, Ohio, Joseph (Pamela) Young of Coshocton, and Jennifer (KJ) Andrews of Coshocton; 14 grandchildren, Kory, Shannon, Josh, Luke, Leah, Ben, Joe, Brian, Matt, Riley, Joely, Calvin, Kara, and Clay; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Brooks of Rockford, Illinois, and Sara Hull of Fort Townsend, Washington.
Helen is also preceded in death by one son, Stephen Young; two brothers, Bud and Bill Hull; and one sister, Lois Wren.
A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm.
