Jerry Brooks Shaw

ZANESVILLE: Jerry Brooks Shaw born July 15, 1941 in Lusk, WY to the late Evelyn Brooks Shaw and Gerald A. Shaw went home to our Lord on August 28, 2013, in Zanesville after a brief battle with cancer.

Jerry graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper, WY in 1959 where he was in JROTC and the "Road Runner" Car Club. He attended Casper Community College.

Jerry was married for over 51 years to Ellen Potter Shaw, also of Casper.

They moved to Zanesville in 1968 from Glendive, MT. Jerry worked for Harbison Fischer Sales for 34 years. After retiring, he had a retirement job at the Sunrise Do-It Center where he enjoyed sharing his vast wealth of handy-man knowledge with anyone who needed help with a DIY project.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ellen; a son, William A. Shaw; granddaughters, Haley and Elloria Shaw of Zanesville; a daughter, Brenda Shaw DeWitt (Mike) and granddaughter Regan DeWitt of Delaware, OH.

Active in their church, St. John's Lutheran, Jerry served on church council and on various committees and groups, including the Pairs and Spares Sunday school group where they have made many lifelong friends who are like extended family.

Jerry served on the board of directors for the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band and was an avid member of the Zanesville Area Radio Kontrol (ZARKs) Airplane Club.

Jerry enjoyed golfing and was regular of the Wednesday Traveling Golf Group. He enjoyed building and working on his radio controlled airplanes, working on cars and in general "tinkering around the house."

Always willing to lend a hand to neighbors and friends, Jerry will be missed by those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry's honor to Hospice of Zanesville, St. John's Lutheran Church or the Zanesville Memorial Concert Band, Inc. Post Office Box 2915 Zanesville, Ohio 43702-2915.
