Mary Ruth (Baker) Ball

DERWENT: Mary Ruth (Baker) Ball, 92, of Derwent, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at her home. She was born May 10, 1921 in Elba, daughter of the late George and Hulda (Stack) Baker.

Mary worked at Continental Can, RCA, and NCR where she retired June 27, 1986. She was a member of Derwent United Methodist Church where she played the piano for many years. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and Golden Sixties. She was a baptized devoted Christian. She enjoyed her family, quilting pillows and small blankets for her family. She also like to can and bake.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty nine years, Raymond L. Ball whom she married October 3, 1936 and passed away April 21, 2006; four brothers, Paul, Walter, George Baker and one infant brother; one sister, Helen Harless; daughter-in-law, Betty Ball.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Leon Ball of Derwent, Larry (Teddy) Ball of Cambridge and Delmas (Donna) Ball of New Concord; one daughter, Carolyn (Roger) Wilson of Chandlersville; 11 grandchildren, Chuck (Rose) Ball, Dave (Theda) Ball, Diana (Chris) Hall, Mary M. Ball, Stacy (Tara) Wilson, Jennifer (Jason) Dingey, Chad Wilson, Kylene (Jeff) Newman, Stephanie (Stacy) Babcock, Suzie (Greg) Henry and Steve Ball; 17 great grandchildren, Amy (Wes) Hurley, Amber Ball (fiancé' Eric Sholtis), Karie (Eric) McCauley, Christopher (Andrea) Hall, Hannah, Anzleigh and Cy Dingey, Jenna and Owen Babcock, Matthew and Samantha Henry, Landon, Breanna, and Camden Wilson, Garrett and Isabel Newman; four great great grandchildren, Carter McCauley, Paxton Hall, Quincy Hurley and Cash Sholtis; five step grandchildren, Betty Anne Dennis, Lisa (John) Rossiter, Jodie (Tim) Beaver, Johnny Dennis, Sandra Farmer; several step great grandchildren; a beloved sister, Donna Easterday and her husband, Carlos, of Pleasant City, who were very special to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Society at Derwent United Methodist Church in Mary's name.

A very special thank you to Hospice of Guernsey for their loving care and compassion.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville where services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday with Evan. Woody Biggs officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
