NEW LEXINGTON: Nancy E. Hasson, 88, was born on November 13, 1924 at home on Sunnyside (the Italian neighborhood of New Lexington, Ohio) and passed away peacefully on September 9, 2013.
At seventeen, she left New Lexington, got a ride to Columbus on Epifano's coal truck and never looked back. She then obtained her cosmetology license and began her lifelong passion for her beauty salon businesses. Nancy soon met Howard Hasson and they were married in 1947. Howard came to be a beloved member of the Marcket family. He passed away in 1965. There being only one love of her life, Nancy never remarried. Nancy enjoyed a forty-two year career of managing beauty salons at the Deshler Hotel and the Neil House Hotel at Broad and High in downtown Columbus.
She loved her garden, proudly raising dozens of varieties of daylilies, hostas and roses, which she shared with everyone. To this day, her gifts of flowers and plants grace the gardens of hundreds of friends throughout Central Ohio and beyond.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents who were Italian immigrants, Virginia (Greco) Marcket from Cerisano, Calabria, her father, James Vincent Marcket from Galati, Sicily and her brother, Anthony (Tony) Marcket.
Nancy is survived by sisters, Eleanor Reichley and Theresa Beck; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Marcket; and nieces and nephews, Nancy (Jimbo) Russell, Jamie (Joe) Fisher, Ginny (Bobby, deceased) Grilli, Mike Reichley, Tony Reichley, M.D., Amy (Cliff) Cody, Tina (Anthony) DeCesare, Jim (Kathy) Marcket and her very special nephew, John Reichley, who made her laugh and took care of her like a son. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
