THORNVILLE: Rose E. Stoner, 87, of Thornville, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at the Homestead Nursing Center.
Rose was born March 11, 1926 in Fairfield County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Stanley R. and Antoinette Reiber Ardrey.
She was a 1945 graduate of Rushville Union High School, and a member of the Rushville Senior Citizens and the Somerset United Methodist Church.
Rose is survived by a daughter, Joyce Rhodes of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Janette Shelley, Jarrod Rhodes and Janelle Geary; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl (Karen) Ardrey of Rushville and Phil (Carol) Ardrey of Thornville; a sister, Wilma (Harold) Hugus of Riverton, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Walter Stoner (April 30, 1990); and three brothers, Donald, Stanley "Lee", and Verne Ardrey.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Somerset United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon Hausman officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
