Charlotte E. Vickers Larr

DRESDEN: Charlotte E. Vickers Larr, 88, of Adams Mills, Ohio died Friday morning, April 18, 2014 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.

Born February 8, 1926 in Cass Township of Muskingum County in Adams Mills, Ohio she was a daughter of the late James Blaine and Flora Alice (Tilton) Vickers and was a 1944 honor graduate of Dresden Jefferson High School. After high school Charlotte became a part of the cadet nurses corp at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville, then later she went to work during the war for an insurance agency in downtown Columbus, Ohio. After the war and her marriage to William Larr she and her husband went to work at the newly opened Coshocton General Electric Plant where she obtained the position of secretary to the General Manager of the Plant.

After the death of her infant son she took a year off then returned to the work force part time for the Coshocton County Auditor's Office. Eventually she became the full time person in charge of payroll for the county under auditors Spike Kanuckle, Richard Tompkins and Deputy Auditor Betty Leech.

She was a member of the Dresden Madison Presbyterian Church and was a beloved Sunday school teacher at Madison Presbyterian Church for many years. Later she attended the Tyndall United Methodist Church.

Charlotte was an intelligent, fun loving and humorous person and above all, loyal and kind. Her interests included reading, poetry, visits by family and friends, travelling and in the springtime, mushroom hunting! She was so happy to have a grandson and she loved children.

Surviving is a daughter, Dixie Wyler and a grandson, Blaine William R. Wyler, both of Zanesville and a sister in-law, Wilma Larr Brinkman of California.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Larr, whom she married May, 1946 and who died April, 2010; an infant son Brett William Larr; two sisters, Doris Evans and Evelyn Beagle Albertson and two brothers, Robert Edwin "Ted" Vickers and John Vickers.

The family wishes to thank the Helen Purcell Home, Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital doctors and staff, Morrison House Staff and Ohio Psychiatric. A very special thanks is given to her caregivers, Betty Wright, Cindy Jones and special niece Judith Beagle Aronhalt for their love and support of this remarkable woman.

Calling hours will be 3pm to 6pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be 6pm Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Floyd Starr officiating. Following the funeral service there will be a caring cremation. Committal services for both Charlotte and William Larr will be in Adams Mills Cemetery at a later date.
