Donald Kemerer Obituary

Donald Paul Kemerer

WHITE COTTAGE: Donald Paul Kemerer, 78 died Wednesday November 9, 2011. He was born on September 6, 1933 to Paul and Gladys Brunton Kemerer in Crooksville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Crooksville High School. He was a former member of the Newton Township Volunteer Fire Department and was the Captain of the Emergency Squad for 20 years. He was also a member of Muskingum Masonic Lodge #368 in Fultonham. He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1954-1956. He retired from Columbia Cement Co. after 33 years of service as an electronics electrician. He then worked at Friendship Pottery in Roseville and later worked in maintenance for Adornetto's Pizza and Giacamo's in Zanesville. After retiring, he spent his time fishing, hunting, and riding his ATV around Eagleport, Ohio.

He was a strong, kind and loving father who taught his kids to live a "special" life following his lead by being outdoors, exploring the woods during all four seasons and enjoying wildlife and the peacefulness of nature. Hunting, fishing, swimming, skiing, dancing, and celebrating our lives along with our parents was a weekly occurrence. We were encouraged to join in various sports and we spent a lot of time at our cabin along the Muskingum River.

He is survived by his wife Kay Gordon Kemerer whom he married in 1953; two sons Christopher S. (Barbara) Kemerer of White Cottage and Eric G. Kemerer of Newark; two daughters Lisa Rae (James) Wirkner of Springfield, Ohio and Jill Ranee (John) Roberts of Anza, California. 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Merrill Kemerer; four sisters Theda Coleman, Margene Thompson, Barbara Dalrymple, and Maxine Denman.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday November 12, 2011 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Dr. White Cottage with Muskingum Lodge holding Masonic Services at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sun. Nov. 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Dr. Brian Law officiating. Burial will be in Crooksville Cemetery.
