Dean Richard " Dick" Morrison

NEW CONCORD: Dean Richard " Dick" Morrison, 84, of New Concord, passed away Friday, April 5th, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville.

He was born August 25, 1928, in Reinersville, a son of the late Cloyd and Edna Waite Morrison. He was in the United States Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of McGraw Edison, and retired from Central Ohio Coal. He had served as the first Fire Chief of the Adamsville Volunteer Fire department, and was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church in Zanesville.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verna Smith Morrison; daughters; Verna (Frank) Seger of Indianapolis, IN, and Treva (Eddie) Williams of Ashland, KY; sons; Rick (Sandie) Morrison of New Concord, Dan (Suzanne) Morrison and Tracy (Karla) Morrison both of Washington Court House; brother, Jim (Carol) Morrison of Chandlersville; 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter; Reva Helen Morrison; a sister; Beulah Eddy Sprouse; and brothers; Cloyd "Pete" Morrison, Rodney "Jack" Morrison, and William "Harley" Morrison.

Calling hours will be Monday, April 8th, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 West Main Street, New Concord. Services will be Tuesday, April 9th, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Ballmer officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery, near Adamsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westwood Baptist Church, 2395 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
