Mitchell George Marczewski

NASHPORT: Mitchell George Marczewski, 76, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 22, 2013.

He was a retired sheet metal worker for National Acme Co. in Cleveland, a major manufacturer of machine tools. For the past five years he lived in Nashport with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

He was born May 12, 1937 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, a small gold mining camp. His parents, Jacob and Anna (Lipiec) Marczewski, immigrated to Canada from Poland sometime after World War I.

Jacob worked in the local gold mines and Anna took care of their six children. In the late 1950's, Mitch immigrated to the United States and joined the Air Force, eventually serving as a crew chief on B-52 bombers based in Texas and Mississippi. He also served in the Strategic Air Command's 75th Bombardment Squadron at Loring AFB, Maine.

He is survived by four children, Mitchell C. ( Sharon) Marczewski of Nashport, Gregory Marczewski/Rick Pierce of Willoughby, Susan Marczewski of Willowick and John Marczewski of Wickliffe; plus several siblings and cousins residing in Cleveland and Canada.

He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Jason, John Jr., Michael, Mitch Jr., Jane, Andrew and Katelyn; and many nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed talking about airplanes, listening to polka music, and was honored to be called "Dziadzio" by anyone ("Grandpa" in Polish).

He came to know Christ later in life and prayed that his family would also know Him in a personal way.

A private family service will be held with burial at Irville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any church or outreach that preaches the gospel.
