Myers Harris, Jr.

GAHANNA: Myers Harris Jr., 72, passed away September 25, 2013 after a long battle with health issues. He resided at The Rehabilitation & Health Center of Gahanna at 5151 South Hamilton Road Gahanna, Oh 43230.

Jr., as he was affectionately called, was born May 3, 1941 in Mobile, AL. His family relocated to Zanesville, OH where Jr. was a long-time resident. He graduated from Zanesville High School in June of 1959. On September 2, 1959 he entered the United States Air Force and served with an illustrious career retiring with honors in 1983.

Jr. is survived by his loving mother, Ethel Louise Harris; his children, Labaron Jeffrey Harris and Regina Renee Harris, both of England and Joshua LaBaron Elijah Harris of Zanesville. He is also survived by his eight sisters and brothers: Luvenia (Sally) Wright, Agens Hunter, Floetta Gillard (Jim) all residing in Mobile, AL, Rodney Harris (Danita) in Plainfield, NJ, Cheryl Watson(Sam) in Columbus, OH, Rahchelle Saunders in Theodore, AL, Zach Harris (Marie) in Zanesville, OH and Reggie Harris in Edison, NJ. Jr. also leaves behind many beloved aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Jr. was his father Myers Harris Sr. who died on March 18, 1997.

Viewing will be Thursday, October 3, 2013, beginning at 11 a.m. with service to follow at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's A.M.E. Church, 561 Pine St, Zanesville. Pastor Clifton R. Kilpatrick will officiate. The internment will be Friday, October 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. and Jr. will be honored for his military service being laid to rest at the Dayton National Cemetery 4100 W. Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Paul's A.M.E. Church. Condolences may be expressed at BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
