I grew up with Rick in Fullerton. We were childhood friends through H.S. and and lost contact a few yrs. after. I was very saddened to hear last night, through a mutual friend from H.S., that he had passed at such a young age. I had learned through my father (who still visits with Rick's father on the street we grew up on) that Rick was battling an agressive cancer, and I'm sure he took to that fight, as he took to life. Full force. In reading the kind words in this guestbook, from his associates and colleagues, I can see that Rick touched and inspired many lives, and I am proud to hear this. I am also grateful to have known Rick and spent fun times as youngsters growing up together. Rick was very good at basketball and it was neat to read his friends accounts of Rick's passion for the Lakers. I remember going to most all Sun. night home games at the Forum in his VW Bus, with friends from H.S., for a season or 2 after H.S. This was the "glory" yrs., as all Laker fans know, and they're memories I still laugh about and will never forget. I recall his love of that game and the success he accomplished playing H.S. ball. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and memories about a young man I grew up with, that became an outstanding gentleman, father, husband and colleague to many. My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to Rick's wife, children and family, and I pray for you, that our Lord will be with you and comfort you in this time of loss. I also am saddened that this disease continues to take so many of our friends and loved ones, and after seeing it take my Father-in-Law so quickly in '05, I know now that Rick's suffering is over and he now awaits his family, friends and loved ones, in heaven, with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and his Father in Heaven. You are missed Rick, and I am grateful to have been an old friend and to be able to share in growing up with you. God Bless.

Rick was an Amazing person. I was lucky to have worked with him for the last 3+ years. We often share stories of our daughters who are very close in age. Rick was very proud of his children, from track meets to little league games. His calendar was full or reminders.
He will be greatly missed by all.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire Poole family.

Rick was one of the good guys I had the privilege to meet in the business world. We were just getting to know one another when he passed. I regret missing the opportunity of not knowing him better. Aloha Rick.

Rick was the nicest person I’ve ever known. He was a wonderful and loyal friend and colleague. His kindness, compassion, generosity, and character were unmatched. Always calm and composed, he at all times showed respect, understanding, and appreciation to everyone in his presence. I will always remember, with deep respect and admiration, his strong faith, his profound love for his wife and children, and his good natured optimism. Thank you Rick for the privilege of sharing good times with you.
My heartfelt condolences to the Poole family.

Rick was an involved alumnus of Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo College of Business and Economics ('89, Accounting). Rick served the College as a member of its Executive Council, a group of executives who, in addition to assisting the College in many other ways, work to provide scholarships to deserving business students. The Mihaylo College family is grateful for Rick's service, and is greatly saddened by his passing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are extended to Rick's family.

Our firm and the world lost a wonderful human being. Rick walked the talk. His actions and words reflected his strong faith. In his presence, I was reminded of who I inspire to be as a parent, friend and worker. Last time I worked with Rick, he mentioned his plans of taking his family to Orlando. I teased him that Disneyworld seemed to be his family's vacation destination ever since I've known him. He smiled and shared with me how much his family enjoyed their time together. Every year before we started an audit job, he had asked me what my vacation plans were to ensure that my family time comes first. He knew his priorities and often reminded me of mine.
I admired how in the midst of stress or difficulties, he always managed to smile. He was truly a remarkable man--I have learned much from him.
My condolences to the Poole family.

Rick was one of the nicest persons I have ever known in my life -- always courteous, unflappable and polite, regardless of how stressful the situation -- an absolute gentleman.
His son Parker, and my daughter Christina were born around the same time. I remember that we went through the pregnancies together as two concerned husbands and fathers, comparing notes, emailing or calling each other every few days to share the experience. Rick always made me feel good after these discussions.
What a class act!

Rick was more than the Partner-in-Charge of our Irvine office; he was also a mentor who held himself to the highest standards of ethics and character. I will miss the way he would shake his head when I would sneak into his office to eat the Peanut M&Ms from his candy jar or when he would send me go on a Diet Coke run for him during our times in Costa Rica. What he brought to our office can never be duplicated and his sense of fatherhood over all his staff will be deeply missed. He was a wonderful Partner to work for, a loving father, an un-replaceable friend, and a great man. When times are difficult or frustrating, I ask myself, "What would Rick Poole do?" It's then that I find my path thru these times. Rick, you are in a better place now and I will always remember the many things you have taught me, including "Leave with Honor" (you set the bar too high for the rest of us) and "CTR".

I suppose if I had half, actually make it one quarter, of the optimism that Rick Poole had, "...my cup would runneth over." I feel so privileged to have been included on a couple of e-mails that Rick responded to in the past, his words of encouragement and positive candor, and that was only in regards to the Lakers!
In the words of Rick Poole, "...This year Boston was the better team, none of us thought the gap was so big if there was any at all, but this team needs some growth from its younger players not to mention Bynum and maybe another veteran post player to improve rebounding and defense. But the future remains bright, we have been able to go from a borderline playoff team about to lose its franchise player at beg of year to now in the top tier of franchises with most promise over next 5 year period."
I can only imagine (with this sort of wonderful optimism for a sport, ...a team) the passion and inspiration he must have had for his family, friends and faith. What a remarkable human being!

Rick was a great man! He was the most passionate and patient man I have ever met. He had a great laugh and wonderful smile. You will be missed for all the great things you did, remembered for the man that you were and honored for the inspiration you gave us all! It is difficulties that show what men are - and you surpassed them all. This quote reminds me of you and who you were!
-It’s easy enough to be pleasant, when life flows along like a song, but the man worthwhile is the man with a smile, when everything goes terribly wrong. - Author Unknown

My condolences to Lisa, the children and the entire Poole family. Rick was my partner at Stonefield Josephson. I always enjoyed working with him as he truly was a special person. Our mutual clients all thought very highly of him and respected his thoughts and opinons. I especially enjoyed discussing sports with Rick. He loved basketball and we always had a great time discussing the Lakers. I will truly miss him.
