Gary R. Morioka, 63, our deeply loved husband, dad, grandfather, fraternity brother, sports fan, sibling, friend and son, passed away April 23, 2008. After a well fought battle with cancer, he is now resting peacefully in that big Reser Stadium in the sky.
He is survived by his wife and "partner in crime" of 30 years, Margo Morioka; sons, Mitch and Marshall; daughter, Stacie; grandson, Mason "Junior Burger"; daughter-in-law, Katie; and son-in-law, Michael. He is also survived by mother, Kazuko; brother, Brian; and sisters, Patsy and Linda.
A man who loved nothing more than his family, his work and his sports, his loyal and sincere nature will be greatly missed at home, at Weyer-hauser and in the stands. "Dad, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever."
A public memorial service will be held at Finley-Sunset Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Portland at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Gary to The Gateway for Cancer Research.

I was with Gary for twelve years from the first grade through high school. We spent many years playing Football, Basketball and competing in Track. After college, we flew to Hawaii together where he showed me the night life during our single days. I regret finding out that Gary and his Family lived close to me only days after they moved from the San Francisco Bay Area. A lifetime of memories that will never be forgotten. I too miss you but always will remember. My sincere condolances to the entire Morioka Family.

Unfortunately, I heard of Gary's passing too late to attend the memorial. Had I been there, I would have told about playing with Gary at his house for many years, losing all my marbles eventually to the best marble player at Colonel Wright grade school and of the very good friend he was throughout Junior High and High School. Gary could always make you laugh and was a superb athlete. Smart too which didn't seem fair. He had everything. We will miss him greatly. My thoughts to his entire family.

Ken and I send our sincere sympathy to the Morioka family. Gary was my manager briefly when we both worked for GE in Salem, VA. I remember those times fondly.

Dad - I miss you with all of me but am comforted knowing you are at rest and, hopefully, enjoying the best hot dog you've ever had. I love you and will carry everything you have taught me over the years throughout my life. Thank you for being my dad - I am truly lucky - and for giving me the greatest memories I could ever have.
