Mary Jones Obituary

Mary W. Jones, 98, passed away at Midland King's Daughters Home on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008.

Mary was born Jan. 28, 1910, in Manistee, to Robert and Margaret Wolters. She graduated from Michigan Agricultural College in 1932, with a degree in home economics. She then married Nelson C. Jones. They resided in East Lansing where Mary was active in many organizations including Michigan State Highway Wives, Alpha Chi Omega Mothers Club, Girl Scouts, Portage Lake Garden Club, and the Women's Division of Peoples Church. Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing bridge, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening at their summer home in Onekama.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Alice (Michael) Mesaros of Midland; one sister, Margaret Johnson of Manistee; eight grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Those who predeceased Mary were her husband, Nelson; daughter, Elizabeth Pentecost; son-in-law, Ronald Pentecost; sister, Alice Jans; and grandson, Charles Pentecost.

A graveside service for the family is planned for a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Midland King's Daughters Home, 2410 Rodd, Midland, Mich. 48640 or Portage Lake Garden Club, 9603 Herkelrath Road, Onekama, Mich. 49675.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors. If you are unable to visit the family in person you may send your condolences through www.waresmithwoolever.com.
