Richard Inman Obituary

Richard Stacey Inman, 78, of New Port Richey, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, of Alzheimers disease.

He was born on July 24, 1930, in Midland, the son of Stacy and Irma Inman. Stacey left high school early to join the U.S. Navy, serving four years. He was honored for heroic measures in saving crew members lives during the sinking of the submarine USS Cochino in the cold war of 1949.

After his military service, he returned to Midland and was employed by The Dow Chemical Co. He and his family relocated several times between the Cleveland, Ohio offices and Midland, serving in the traffic departments. Stacey enjoyed many sports including golf, baseball, and fastpitch softball.

Stacey is survived by his wife, Gladys Inman of New Port Richey, Fla.; daughter, Katie (Mike) Mattingly of Manteo, N.C.; sons , Jeff of New Port Richey Fla., Dick and John (Sue) of Midland, and Jim of Great Falls, Mont.; grandchildren, Jason and Chris Inman of Bath, Tyler and Bryan Inman of New Port Richey, Fla., and Kelly, Keith and Shannon Inman of Midland; brothers, Jerry (Carol) of Kingsley; and sisters, Carol (Harold) Anderson of Clio, Jane Kilbourne of Midland and Joan Bishop of Freeland. Stacey was predeceased by sisters, Ann McGraw-Henry and Phyllys Gooch of Midland; and brothers, Winny and Phil Inman.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 165, 5111 Hedgewood Dr., Midland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #165.
