Charley set a standard for competent and ethical public service to which all public servants should aspire. He was insightful, thoroughly knowledgeable, fair, and unfailingly dedicated to the Village of North Palm Beach. Despite all that, we'll miss him most just because he was Charley.

To the O'Meilia Family, I was so saddened to hear the loss of you Dad. He was a special person who will never be forgotten. I will always remember him being there for my family, and sharing in the good times and bad. Always a pillar of support. I only knew him as my mom's boss until one day when my dad got sick. He was the first one there to make sure we were OK. He and your mom shared my wedding day. For this and so much more I will always cherish my memories of your dad.

To Charley's family, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. You do not know me, but I knew your mother (the lovely Mary) and father. Charley had a great influence on my early years in the code profession and today I still use the test: "What would Charley say?" in evaluating issues. A finer code official and human being has never existed. While the world will be a sadder place without Charley, hopefully he has joined Mary and they are sitting with God looking down on all of us with love and affection. Charley lives on in the memories of many and I for one will never forget him.

Our hearts go out to you at this time. Please except our deepest sympathies.
Charlie O'meilia was not only a special person, but a great man. His devotion to the Village of North Palm Beach was unprecedented. I first met Charley in 1969, when he hired me to work for the Public Works Department. I continued to work for him until he retired. During that time it became obvious, that Charley was more than just a boss, he was a mentor and a very special friend. Charley was always there in a time of need or direction. I'm sure that he never knew how much he impacted my life and family. The community has truly been stricken with a great loss. We will miss him dearly. May God bless.

I was very sad to hear about Mr. O'Meilia's death. He was a dedicated building official, then a council member for North Palm Beach. He wasn't shy about calling The Palm Beach Post to set us straight about something we reported, especially if it was about grammar. He'll be missed.

We extend to the family our deepest caring and sypathy. Your parents were very precious to us, and we are richly blessed for knowing them for many years.
Charley, a very special man who served his fellow man all the days of his life, meant more to our family than he ever knew. He did know how much Bruce loved him. Thanks to Chris, Bruce did speak to Charley just a few days ago. We will all miss him, but one day in God's time we will see Charley again. Be strong in the Lord, and God bless you

Its a sad day for NPB and Charlie's family. His passing marks the end of an ERA and a dedication to the lifestyle of the Village I am afraid has been lost not to be found again. As a former employee and friend of Charlie my deepest condolences to his family. He was a great person and good friend.
