Lou Page Obituary

Lou Ellen Leusley Page passed away early Monday morning, October 20, 2008 at Feather River Hospital in Paradise, California at the age of 74 years old. Lou Ellen was born on February 28, 1934 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Lt. Col. James and Mildred Leusley. Lou is survived by her three children, sons Jeffery Page and Gordon Scott Page of Paradise, California and daughter Julie Page Ales and husband Jim Ales of Aptos, California. Lou was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren. Lou will be greatly missed.

In Paradise, California, Lou enjoyed working at the Paradise Post as the newspaper copyeditor for many years. As Lou was the proud graduate of Mills College, Oakland, CA, she took great pleasure in her copyediting duties. Lou retired from this position a few years ago.

Lou's life was eventful. Lou was happily married to Lt. Col. Gordon Lee Page, who was MIA in Vietnam in 1966. She waited for his return for many years. His remains were repatriated in 1998 and laid to rest in the Paradise Cemetery. Lou will join Gordon at last in her final rest.

A family memorial will be held in the near future, with details to be determined. In lieu of flowers and for sending regards, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 or sent to 754 Mangrove, Chico, California, 95926.

Although I never got to meet Lou I knew and flew with Gordon. I was with the 45th TRS sharing the Green Python with the 15th TRS. For all of those long years waiting for resolution of Gordon's disappearance we shared your hopes and dreams.

Our memories of your parents began in 1962. Gordy was in our wedding & Lou maintained Xmas news with us during these last 42 yrs. That's genuine friendship!
Dan & I send you our love & wish, that all the good time are the ones to remember.
Don't know whether we can make the service due to my own cancer. We will be a bird on each of your shoulders. love, Dan & Kathy Courtney

Sorry for your troubles.
Lou was an inspirational member of the Bay Area POW/MIA wives who strived to improve the treatment of the prisoners, to secure their release and to receive the fullest possible accounting. She was a loyal friend and we loved her.
