Mary Anderson

Mary E. Anderson NORFOLK - Mary E. Anderson, 85, departed this life Aug. 10, 2008. Many will remember her as the bartender at Harvey's Lounge in the Holiday Inn Waterside (formerly the Golden Triangle). Before it was common for women to tend bar, Mary had "mastered" the profession. Locally, she played a large part in bringing women into the profession. The only thing that she loved more than her job and regular customers was her family. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Raymond L. Anderson; her son, William L. Anderson and her dear friend, Aubrey Milnes. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Dottie Anderson and Sandy White; her sons, Charlie Anderson and wife Linda, Randy Anderson and wife Belinda; and her sister, Ann Ives and her husband Roy of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1501 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at Capt.
