Eloise Verell Obituary


Eloise S. Verell HAMPTON - Eloise Sawyers Verell, 87, peacefully joined eternally with her Lord and also her husband, Wesley Verell, Aug. 12, 2008. Born July 30, 1921, she was raised in Beckley, W.Va. Eloise was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach and had lived in Hampton for the past 25 years. She worked for VEPCO also known as Dominion Virginia Power from 1948 to 1981. A loyal member of Wythe Presbyterian Church in Hampton, she was also a member of the Red Hat Society, and the Virginia Beach chapter 75 Order of the Eastern Star. She very much loved the company of her beloved family and friends, all of whom will truly miss her. She is survived by her stepson, David Verell and wife Kathy and their three children, Taylor, Whitney and Wesley. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lewis and Mary Verell Whitehouse, Vernon and Betty Verell Wilson, all of Hampton; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and cousins who adore her and will miss her dearly. A celebration of life memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wythe Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Susan Cothran. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made the Wythe Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
