Norman Anderson Obituary


Norman A. Anderson VIRGINIA BEACH - Norman A. Anderson, 69, passed away July 25, 2008. Norman was born in Owensboro, Ky., to the late Theodore G. and Essie Anderson. He served in the U.S. Navy as a surface line officer, leaving as a lieutenant junior grade. As a defense contractor, he worked on such projects as flight testing, the Phoenix and Sparrow Missile Testing System, E-2C Hawkeyes, and unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles. Norman retired from BAE Systems in 2005 as a CBG contract manager for the Navy and Marines. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the University Michigan Alumni Association, Old Crows and NAMI. In his spare time, Norman was a patron of the arts, a soccer enthusiast, and a black belt in Shotokan Karate. Norman is survived by loving his wife of 38 years, Glenda Davis Anderson; daughter, Donika Anderson of Virginia Beach; son, Aaron Anderson of Atlanta; granddaughter, Cassidy Wagner of Virginia Beach; sister, Judith Anderson of Grand Rapids, Mich. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. The Rev. Larry Jennings will officiate. Military honors will be accorded. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Disabled American Veterans or NAMI, P.O. Box 4550, Winchester, VA 22604.
