Norman Anderson

Norman A. Anderson VIRGINIA BEACH - Norman A. Anderson, 69, passed away July 25, 2008. Norman was born in Owensboro, Ky., to the late Theodore G. and Essie Anderson. He served in the U.S. Navy as a surface line officer, leaving as a lieutenant junior grade. As a defense contractor, he worked on such projects as flight testing, the Phoenix and Sparrow Missile Testing System, E-2C Hawkeyes, and unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles. Norman retired from BAE Systems in 2005 as a CBG contract manager for the Navy and Marines. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the University Michigan Alumni Association, Old Crows and NAMI. In his spare time, Norman was a patron of the arts, a soccer enthusiast, and a black belt in Shotokan Karate. Norman is survived by loving his wife of 38 years, Glenda Davis Anderson; daughter, Donika Anderson of Virginia Beach; son, Aaron Anderson of Atlanta; granddaughter, Cassidy Wagner of Virginia Beach; sister, Judith Anderson of Grand Rapids, Mich. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. The Rev. Larry Jennings will officiate.
