Sarah Stallings Obituary


Sarah B. Stallings HOBBSVILLE - Sarah Berryman Stallings, 85, of the 700 block of Sandy Cross Road, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital, Edenton. Mrs. Stallings was born in Chowan County and was the daughter of the late Vivian O. and Indiana Bunch Berryman. A homemaker, she was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Stallings Sr.; his sister, Madeleine Smith; her brothers, Mavor and Wilson Berryman; and her son-in-law, Ed Noble. Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn S. Noble; her son, J.E. Stallings Jr. and wife Rita, all of Hobbsville; two sisters, Lavenia Andleton of Portsmouth and Dorothy Wells of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Amber Stallings, Holly King and husband Mike and Michele Copeland and husband Neil; and four great-grandchildren, Devon Lake, Chase Copeland and Ashby and Brylie King. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. E. Vernon Gilmer Jr. and the Rev. Hugh Mizelle. Burial will follow in the Stallings Family Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad, Gatesville, NC 27938.
