Charles Manis Obituary


Charles Henry Manis CHESAPEAKE - Charles Henry Manis, 80, went to be with the Lord Aug. 16, 2008, in the Chesapeake Home for Adults. Mr. Manis was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late William and Mary Kazee Manis. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Kirk Manis; and three brothers, Donald Manis, William Manis and Harold Manis. He was a retired superintendent for Riverside Hospital in Newport News and retired U.S. Navy veteran. Surviving are two daughters, Linda McDougle of East Lake, Ohio and Kathy (Art) Ewing of Houston, Texas; one son, Charles (Laurie) Manis of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren, Christopher Manis, Michael Manis, Matthew Manis, Louanna Adkins, Carl Yoakem, David Yoakem Sr., Art Ewing Jr. and Angie Soto; eight great-grandchildren, Adam Manis, Josh Adkins, Cody Adkins, David Yoakem Jr., Kyle Yoakem, Nick Yoakem, Nadia Soto and Bobby Ewing. A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., by the Rev. Jim Pridemore. Burial will be in the Rude Cemetery in Flatwoods, Ky. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of services in the funeral home.
