Joyce Roberts CHESAPEAKE - Joyce Roberts, 63, of the 2700 block of Whitestone Ave., went to be with the Lord Aug. 18, 2008. Born March 4, 1945, in New York, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Lula Smith. She was the widow of Timothy Emanuel Roberts. Joyce will be remembered for her love of traveling. She was gifted in culinary arts and enjoyed preparing meals and events for others. Joyce was a generous person who cared and provided for many children over the years. Survivors include her longtime companion, Johnnie E. Millington; son, Darren Emanuel Roberts; daughter, Pamela Ramos; goddaughter, Claudette London; brother, John Andrew Wright; sisters, Rita Lighty and husband Michael and Regina Larokko and husband Anatole "Tony"; aunts, Laura Wilkins and Mosetta Robertson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, with Dr. Dwight Webster Sr. officiating. The viewing will begin Friday with the family receiving friends prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
