Dorothy Hudgins Obituary

VIRGINIA BEACH - Dorothy "Dot" Trueblood Hudgins, 74, a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, died Aug. 19, 2008, in Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital where she was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Dot was born Nov. 19, 1933, at her home in Norfolk, to Bernice Elizabeth Lanier and Elwood Benjamin Trueblood Sr. She attended Kempsville Grammar and High schools and began her career working at the Bank of Virginia in Norfolk. She married Littleton C. Hudgins following a courtship that lasted many years and assisted with her husband’s businesses throughout her life.

Dot is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Lit; her brother, Elwood B. Trueblood Jr.; her daughter, Hazel Hudgins Hunter and her husband Scott; her son, Littleton C. Hudgins Jr.; and four grandchildren, Virginia Hudgins, Benjamin Hunter, Hayden Hunter and Sofie Hunter.

Her hobbies included traveling with her husband throughout the world, cooking, gardening and attending UVA football games and her grandchildren’s sporting events.

A visitation to celebrate Dot’s life will be held at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, from 4 to 6 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dot’s name be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation Inc., 740 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. A guestbook may be signed and condolences sent to the family at www.hdoliver.com.
