Jerolyn Reitz Martin VIRGINIA BEACH - Jerolyn "Jerry" Martin passed away Aug. 17, 2008, at Kings Grant House with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. Born in Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ina Reitz. Jerry loved politics, crossword puzzles, shoes, watches, walking and eating healthy. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart. The last four years of her life were spent at Kings Grant House. These were some of the happiest years of her life. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to all of the staff and Commonwealth Assisted Living for nurturing her, caring for her, and loving her as if we were all family. There are too many to thank but please know we never worried and could always count on Julie to make sure her hair looked great! We also want to thank Heartland and the hospice team that worked with us to make the last few weeks comfortable for our mom. Sandy, Debbie, Lisa and Chaplain Ruby - thank you! Jerolyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Billy Martin and his wife Debbie of Destin, Fla., Gladys Doxey and her husband John of Chesapeake and Mary Beth Smith and her husband Ken of Manassas, Va.; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Billy, Christine, Samantha and Michelle; two great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Lauren; and her brother, David Reitz of Gastonia, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. William Lee Martin, U.S. Army retired. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in Arlington National Cemetery.
