Elaine Wile Obituary

VIRGINIA BEACH - Elaine Wile passed away unexpectedly Aug. 1, 2008, in her hometown of Bellingham, Wash., surrounded by many family members and friends. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Elaine enjoyed every minute of each day, always with a smile, traveling to far away places in search of new experiences and new friends in addition to visiting her vast network of friends and family who live all over the world. Elaine was a proud military wife who raised four children, Linda Gordon McClure, Michael H. Gordon, Larry L. Gordon and Gregory D. Gordon. The military life took them many places, but Elaine called Virginia Beach home. Elaine’s surviving family members include her four children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at The Lesner Inn on Shore Drive Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The family asks that you come casually dressed - Elaine was a beach person who was always seen wearing her Birkenstocks! The family requests that any memorial donations to be sent to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure at cms.komen.org/komen/Donations/index.htm.

I want to begin with saying I have nothing but the fondest memories of Elaine. I remember growing up across the street from her family and those memories bring great joy to my family even to this date and forever...with all my heart, God Bless.

Linda, Mike, Larry, Greg & the whole Gordon clan,
Even though Grandma Elaine is no longer with us physically, she is definitely with us in spirit. In time, we all be together again. She will be waiting for each of us to arrive and come join the party!
In the infinite words of Randy Pausch, "We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand." Grandma played her hand immaculately! She has all of you to show for it! I just hope I can play mine half as good as she did. Hugs and much love to all of you!
