Doris Hoiness

Doris Jean Hoiness CHESAPEAKE - Doris Jean Hoiness of Inlet Quay, widow of Michael J. Hoiness, passed away Aug. 23, 2008, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Norfolk and was the daughter of the late Jake Stogsdill. Doris was a past district II president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 4809 in Norfolk. She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Sawyer and Michelle Guill and husband Michael of Virginia Beach; son, Michael J. Hoiness Jr. of Chesapeake; mother, Mary U. Hilburn Stogsdill; five grandchildren, Danny, Robert, Derek, Jessica and Jake Michael; two brothers, Ralph and Tim Stogsdill; and one sister, Ellen Stogsdill, all of Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Stogsdill. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery by the Rev. Fred Bunner. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4809 Norfolk Cancer Fund or to your favorite charity.
