Franklin Jones Obituary


Franklin E. Jones Jr. SUFFOLK - "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." Franklin Elwood Jones Jr., 36, of the 400 block of Butternut Court, peacefully passed away Aug. 21, 2008, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Frank was born May 17, 1972, to Franklin E. Jones Sr. and Barbara Jones in Southampton County, Virginia. Frank was a sergeant in the U.S. Army until retiring in 2003. He entered into holy matrimony to LaTasha Vaughan on May 12, 2007. Frank leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents; his devoted wife; four children, Shamyra and Tamyra Jones, Shanique Davis and Tony Vaughan Jr.; sister, Candi Church; mother-in-law, Angela Minggia; father-in-law, Larry Minggia; and a host of other family and friends. Mr. Jones will be on view from noon to 7 p.m. today and Friday at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home, 405 Johnson Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434, (757) 539-4861. A funeral will be held in his honor at 3 p.m. Sunday in Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
