Floyd N. Whitt SUFFOLK - Floyd Nelson "Nellie" Whitt passed away unexpectedly at his home Aug. 26, 2008. Born July 7, 1934, in Pilot Mountain, N.C., he was the son of Lucy D. Tucker and Floyd G. Whitt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Dolores C. Whitt; son, Timmy; and sister, Treva Wade. Nellie was a longtime resident of Portsmouth prior to retirement from CPC Skippy after many years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and avid sportsman. Nellie is survived by sons, Rodney Whitt and wife Joy of Norfolk, Gary Whitt and Helen Swah of Chesapeake; daughter, Leslie Miller and husband Scott of Wheeling, W.Va.; brother, Wesley Whitt and wife Edna of Portsmouth; sister, Hazel Gibson of Daytona Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Erin Whitt and Christopher Whitt of Norfolk, Sara Miller and Matthew Miller of Wheeling; loving friend, Judy Sumner of Portsmouth; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished pets, Julie and Checkers. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Twiford's Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Arrangements provided by the Cremation Society of Virginia.
