Steven Byers Obituary

Steven S. Byers CHESAPEAKE - Steven Scott Byers, 48, passed away Aug. 28, 2008. Born Dec. 7, 1959, in Norfolk, he was the son of Raymond Byers and the late Jacquelyn Byers. He was the loving husband of Tania; the proud father of his daughters, Hannah and Emma; brother to Jessica, Vincent and Rocky; and a friend to many. Steve was the owner and operator of Byers Construction located in Virginia Beach for many years. Although he enjoyed his work, he was much happier when he was on the golf course with his golfing friends. He was a dedicated Redskins fan, win or lose. He was always involved in sports throughout his life and made many close friends along the way. Steve was a great lover of animals and never hesitated to stop and help one in need and brought many home for us to enjoy over time. We will all miss him. Survivors include his wife, Tania; daughters, Hannah and Emma; father, Raymond; sister, Jessica (Ernie) Holt; brothers, Vincent and Rocky (Geraldine). He is also survived by his father-in-law, Michael (Raisa) Mytnik; sister-in-law, Astrid (Stephen) Toland; brother-in-law, Bill (Anne) Mytnik; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Great Bridge Chapel, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The viewing will be Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to the SPCA or local animal shelter. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook and send condolences at www.omanfh.com.
