John Joyce Obituary

John Edward Joyce WILLIAMSBURG - John Edward Joyce died July 3, 2008, at the age of 62. Born in Portsmouth and raised in Princess Anne County, he earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Old Dominion University after serving in Vietnam with the U.S. Marines. His multifaceted career included working as mechanical engineer with the Virginia Department of Mental Health, director of physical plant service at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and director of maintenance at Eastern State Hospital. A resident of Toano, Va., for the past 26 years, he was known for his dry wit, loyalty and devotion to his family. John enjoyed golfing, boating and especially his cadre of wonderful friends. John Joyce is survived by his wife of 36 years, Donnah; twin sons, Michael and David; and grandson, Aidan. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. in the Queens Lake Clubhouse, 234 E. Queens Drive, Williamsburg. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Williamsburg. Arrangements are by Bucktrout Funeral Home.
