Ruby Lassiter Obituary


Ruby Y. Lassiter HERTFORD - Ruby Cleo Yates Lassiter, 90, of the 700 block of Pennsylvania Ave., died Aug. 30, 2008, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, N.C. Mrs. Lassiter was born in Sumter, S.C., and was the daughter of the late John H. and Mattie Eleanor Frost Yates. A retired supervisor from Don Juan Manufacturing, she was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Aydlett Lassiter Sr.; sisters, Juanita James, Barbara May Duckta, Frances Nixon and Virginia Daley; and brothers, Walter, Franklin, John Edward and Julius Alfred Yates. Surviving are her sons, Ray Lassiter and wife Pam of Hertford and Allen Lassiter and wife Frances of Edenton; her sister, Leslie Young of Watertown, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Randy Lassiter of Jacksonville, Fla., Eddie Lassiter and wife Robin of Columbus, Ohio, John Lassiter of Corapeake, Lisa Dayton and husband Charlie of East New Market, Md., and Donnie Jones and wife Corey of Belvidere; and five great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Braden Lassiter and Hunter, Kenlee and Courtney Jones. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, by Pastor Phillip Alligood. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the home of her son, 200 Sunset Drive, Hertford.
