Vivian Winborne Obituary


Vivian C. Winborne SUFFOLK - Vivian Copeland Winborne, 80, of the 6000 block of Indian Trail, passed away Aug. 31, 2008, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children and her sister. She was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Nansemond County. She was the daughter of the late John James and Isabelle Lowe Copeland. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Harry M. Winborne; son, John Edward Winborne, and nine brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker, co-owner of Winborne's Grocery and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by her son, Harry Stewart Winborne of Norfolk; two daughters, Judith W. Horton of Suffolk and Vivian Lee Gurganus and her husband Ronald of Carrsville; and one sister, Evelyn C. Jones of Suffolk. She was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren, Ryan Mardre, Travis Horton (Emily) and Denise Sloan (Chris) and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Cayson Sloan. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell and Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Pearson officiating. Committal will follow in the Winborne Family Cemetery. Friends and family may join the family at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence. Vivian was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and other family members and will be sadly missed.
