Linwood King Obituary


Linwood L. King PORTSMOUTH - Linwood L. "Hand" King, 64, of the 400 block of Main St., died Aug. 28, 2008, in his residence. He was born in Norfolk County, Va., and retired from the City of Portsmouth as a service line mechanic after 13 years of service. He was also employed in security with the Pines Residential Treatment Center with five years of service. He was a member of Greater Deep Creek Lodge No. 1033, 3rd Masonic District. He is survived by two daughters, Angela R. King and Melodie A. King, both of Portsmouth; three sons, Linwood J. King of Portsmouth, Leonard Parker of Chesapeake and Nikita Parker of Virginia Beach; one sister, Elnora B. Smith of Capital Heights, Md.; three brothers, Allen H. Boykins of Chesapeake, Harry E. Brown of Portsmouth and James King (Lois) of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Marcus King, Rashad Ward of Portsmouth and Mikail A. Parker of Virginia Beach; and a longstanding friend, Barbara Boone of Portsmouth. He was predeceased by his mother, Ogie Beatrice King; father, Joe King; and two brothers, Calvin Brown and Josephus King. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Benjamin Adamson Jr., D.D., prelate, officiating. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family of the late Linwood L. King wishes to express their deep appreciation to friends who have comforted and stood by us during the illness and passing of our loved one.
