Joyce Jackson Obituary


Joyce P. Jackson VIRGINIA BEACH - Joyce P. Jackson, 56, of the 3700 block of Kings Point Road, passed away Sept. 3, 2008, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. "Diva Joyce," as she was known, was born Nov. 18, 1951, to the late Delores and Charles Pace Sr. in Princess Anne County, Virginia. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Pace Jr. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk, and a member of the National Cancer Society. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Melvin Jackson; one daughter, Anita Jackson-Wright (Shannon); one son, Antjuan Jackson (Daphne); six sisters, Evelyn Jefferson, Carolyn Kellam, Shirley Winder, Annette Cartwright, Adrian Earl and Alice Wilson; two grandchildren, Tazjahne' Sutton and Anaya Jackson; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in New Hope Baptist Church, 395 Old Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Dr. E. Ray Cox Sr. will officiate. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Family and friends will assemble at 3713 Kings Point Road one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
