George Casher Obituary


George T. Casher Jr. EWA BEACH, Hawaii - Petty Officer 1st Class George Thomas Casher Jr., stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, died Aug. 24, 2008, from wounds suffered in a motorcycle accident. Cash was born Nov. 3, 1978, in Queens, N.Y. He moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1989 and graduated from Eastmoor High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Sept. 30, 1996. In 2003, he moved to Virginia where he became involved with the VA Hurricanes, the VA Pirates, and the Extreme Riders of GA and VA. In May of 2007, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, with the USS Pasadena. It was there that George Casher was selected as USS Pasadena Sailor of the Quarter for 2008, as well as many other achievements within his career. He is survived by his wife, Ramonda Casher and expected child; his parents, Deborah Casher and George T. Casher Sr. of Columbus, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Liane Casher and Andre' Reed of Columbus; brothers, Lawrence Casher of Columbus and Douglas Bernard Robertson of Jacksonville, Fla.; niece and nephew, She-Lyn and Andre' Reed Jr. of Columbus; grandparents, James and Sarah Casher of Columbus; mother-in-law, Patricia Minor of Virginia Beach; brother-in-law, Larry L. Minor II of Hampton; father-in-law, Larry Minor Sr. of San Jacinto, Calif.; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Cash was well respected in and out of his career field. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk Thursday at noon.
