Francisco Danganan Obituary

Francisco S. Danganan VIRGINIA BEACH - Francisco "Frank" S. Danganan, 71, passed away Sept. 7, 2008, with his family at his side, showering love and prayers. Frank was a beacon of faith, dearly loved by his family, the Philippine community, and a friend to all. He was a patient and kind gentleman who loved adventures in travel, good food, and his family. He affected everyone he met in a positive way. You couldn't contain Frank's contagious smile, which would suddenly spill over to the rest of the room. A devoted Catholic and loving husband, he raised four wonderful daughters. Frank was deeply ingrained with a sense of charity and good will, always lent a helping hand whenever able, and loved singing with his granddaughter, Bella. Born in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, he was a retired chief petty officer from the U.S. Navy, where he spent more than 25 years in service to our nation. Frank was a member of St. Mathews Catholic Church, Knight's of Columbus No. 12378, San Lorenzo Spiritual Center, the Pampango Language Club and the Cebuano Speaking Association of Tidewater. One of 13 siblings, Frank is survived by his wife, Rosaminda Danganan; four daughters, Leilani de Forest and husband Eric of Virginia Beach, Jo-Ann Gonzales of Norfolk, Joni Marcelo and husband Noel of Fairfax, Va., Eloise Danganan of Los Angeles; and son-in-law, Troy Gonzales of Virginia Beach; granddaughter, Isabella Marcelo of Fairfax; two sisters, Emily del Rosario and Leonila Buenaventura, both of the Philippines; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in St. Mathews Catholic Church by the Rev. Father Leo Manalo. Arrangements are under the direction of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Kidney Foundation or Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com. The family would like to thank all of Frank's care givers, the doctors, hospice nurses, physical therapists, Davita Dialysis staff at Crossways, Virginia Beach EMS and Fire, Sentara Leigh staff and all organizations, friends and extended family who prayed and cared for Frank. He knew he was well loved. God bless.
