Brock Williams Obituary


Brock M. Williams NORFOLK - Brock Moscow Williams, 69, departed this life Sept. 8, 2008. He was the only child of the late James and Emily King Williams. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk State University and New York University. Professionally, he toured with the Langston Hughes Off-Broadway production, "Prodigal Son" throughout the United States and Europe, and sang and danced with Leontyne Price and other celebrities at Carnegie Hall and the old Madison Square Garden. Retiring in Norfolk in 1996, he began giving music lessons to children of the church who could not afford them otherwise. He was a member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, National Association of Negro Musicians Inc., Tidewater Area Musicians and the Organist and Choir-Director's Guild of Hampton Roads. Survivors include a brother, Curtis Williams; half brothers, Burnell Williams, Earnest Lorenzo Petty and Earnest Harris; half sisters, Carolyn Anne Mitchel and Katherine Gloria Cuffee; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Saturday at 11:45 a.m. in Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
