Robert Joseph Shea VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert Joseph Shea, 77, died Sept. 8, 2008, at 3:45 a.m. in Atlantic Shores, Virginia Beach. He was the beloved husband of Joan Dolores Shea (deceased); devoted father of Robert J. Shea Jr., David J. Shea, Richard J. Shea, Garrett J. Shea, Maryann Bright and Michael J. Shea; son of John Francis Shea (deceased) and Margaret Shea (deceased) formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and brother of Jane Phillips and John Francis Shea Jr. (deceased). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Robert J. Shea III, Colin Shea, Reid Shea, Katherine Shea, Benjamin Shea, Timothy Shea, Evan Shea, Jeremy Shea, Pendleton Bright, Marguerite Bright and Ethan Shea. Robert and Joan were born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., where they met each other while attending St. John's University. While with the Department of Labor, Robert was stationed in Boston, Galveston, Texas and New Orleans. Robert and Joan moved to the Washington, D.C., area in 1977 where Robert was working as an administrative law judge for the Department of Labor. He retired and then moved to Atlantic Shores in 2005 to be close to his loving daughter and his grandchildren. Friends may call at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA (703) 425-9702, Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Raymond of Penafort Roman Catholic Church, 8750 Pohick Road, Springfield, VA 22153, (703) 440-0535, on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be immediately following the Mass at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032.
