William Hitchcock Obituary


William Hitchcock Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - William J. Hitchcock Sr., 84, went to be with the Lord Sept. 12, 2008. William was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Norfolk to the late Clancy Hitchcock Sr. and Lillian Elizabeth Britt Hitchcock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Elizabeth Hitchcock and a stepbrother, Ernest Wilbur. William was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He received two Bronze stars and medals of honor. Left to cherish his memory are nine children, Gayle Kelly, William J. Hitchcock Jr., Shirley Jefferson, Joanne Hanley, David Hitchcock, Jack Hitchcock, Kenneth Hitchcock, Carol Dennison and Jason Hitchcock; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Friends may send tributes to www.mem.com.
