Julia Hirsch Obituary


Julia Berger Hirsch NORFOLK - Julia Berger Hirsch of the 1600 block of Claremont Ave. died Sept. 14, 2008, in her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Eva Amdursky Berger and was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney A. Hirsch and her sister, Lee Berger Sartorius and brother, Bernard J. Berger. Julia graduated from Maury High School and was the office manager of A. Bartley and Sons for more than 50 years. She was a member of B'nai Israel Congregation and was a life member of its sisterhood and the Hadassah. She was a member of the Beth Shalom Home Auxiliary and the Hebrew Ladies Charity Society. Survivors include her brother-in-law and close friend of many years, Samuel P. Saunders; her nieces and nephews, Adrienne and Ira-Joel Sartorius, Nathan Berger, Susan Weintraub and her husband Byron, Beverley Weisman and her husband Arnold, Ellen Saunders Glynn and her husband John, Steven Saunders and his wife Lynne; and her sister-in-law and good friend, Frances S. Berger. Graveside services were held in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, by Rabbi Chaim Silver. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, handled arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Beth Shalom Home or the charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at hdoliver.com.
